I have noticed in Today’s Proverb, and for quite some time now, that it has a distinct set of if/then statements. However today I also noticed for the first time some when/why in the backdrop of these verses. As you’ll see here soon, Today’s Proverb is sprinkled through and through with the idea of diligence on the believers part. Remember! God is a Rewarder to them that DILIGENTLY seek Him.
If you read your Proverbs on a daily basis then there is no doubt you’ve noticed that in the first five verses it says that if we do those things then something beneficial will happen. A classic if/then statement if there ever was one. If we seek after the things of God, in the way that these verses say to do it, then we will understand the perfect Will of God The Father.
Take another look at the “if” statements in the first 4 verses. Notice that there are 3 of them. As I was looking up a few Hebrew words in the verses I noticed something I can only describe as a “spiritual posture”, which led me to Matt. 22:37 [love God with all your heart, soul and mind .ie diligence] where God opened my eyes to see that there is also “spiritual posture” seen here as well.
When the goal of the first five verses has occurred, it has occurred for a purpose. Look closely at what I saw today in verse 12 and 16. It says, “To deliver thee from…” twice. So all this advice is given “To deliver thee from” 2 different things; a man and a woman. Today is the first time I have noticed the “man” in Today’s Proverb.
